IVF Success Story At 70
I run an IVF clinic in New Delhi. I was approached by an old childless couple. The husband had already crossed 70, and the wife was approaching that mark. They read about IVF and wanted to have a child to fill the void in their lives.
Obviously, the wife was too old. We offerred them a combination of IVF and surrogacy and a woman was identified to be both the egg donor and surrogate. This was included in the IVF package. The egg was fertilized by the sperm of the husband.
The couple was also particular about having a male child because they were worried that there may not be anyone left to protect a girl child if they died before her marriage. We used PGD/PGS to ensure that the embryo would develope into a healthy and a male baby.
We are delighted that the couple was blessed with a healthy boy. The only glitch was that the baby was born with a cleft lip.
